Swollen lymph node in neck that is hard and feels like it snaps in and out of neck…helpplease?
Hi. I have had a swollen lymph node on my left side right below my jaw. It has been hard and feels like it will pop in and out when I push on it. (Can feel a tiny click or pop) Lately, I have noticed that side of my neck looking a little swollen in the mirror. At first I thought I was just getting a double chin however the node on the right side does not pop out like this one and does not seem to be swollen or even tender. Lately swallowing food has not been the same since before the mouth infection/wisdom teeth removal. I had the mouth infection about two months ago however I have had this node swollen longer than that. I have been checked and I am hiv/std free. Why is it the LAW that we have car insurance?? I honestly think it’s stupid. Shouldn’t we, as free Americans, be able to make the choice of whether or not we want insurance, and still legally drive a vehicle, as long as we have a license, at our own risk? Kind of like if you go skiing or snowboarding, you go at your own risk, you’re not forced to get skiing insurance, or boarding insurance, or anything like that. I mean, think of this situation: I have no insurance, and I wreck into somebody. They have insurance, so they are covered. I don’t, so I will either have to get rid of my car, or pay for repairs myself; that’s the risk I took and this is how I’m paying for it, by being car less or spending tons of money on repairs. But why must we be forced by law to have it, or NO DRIVING FOR YOU says big ole’ government?? This is angering me because I’m currently in college, without a car, and while I can walk to my work and school, it’s still about 30-45 minutes each way to walk, and if I could get an old car for cheap, it would make my life MUCH easier and less of a hassle."

In terms of life insurance proceeds and taxable estates, I believe I have the general concepts down: 1. The policy is included in the decedent’s estate so long as he or she owned the policy. 2. If the spouse is the beneficiary, then it still escapes estate tax currently due to the unlimited marital deduction. But now here’s my question: Let’s say Husband owns a $1,000,000 life insurance policy with his wife as the beneficiary. He dies. The $1,000,000 is included in his estate, but then is deducted due to the unlimited marital deduction. Now one week later, the wife dies. I don’t believe the $1,000,000 she received as beneficiary of her husband’s insurance would be subject to individual income taxes, but will that $1,000,000 be included in HER estate? I think it should be as she now has $1,000,000, but for the life of me I can’t find anything that says this explicitly/definitively. Thank you!"

@ Matt – I give you BA for the effort you put into this answer. You made some great points but I don’t agree with everything you posted. I know for a fact that in the states of PA and NJ there are many many scholarships given from state colleges based on academic merit. I’m not saying it’s wrong. My point is either you are intelligent or you are not. We can give people more information but we cannot really make them any smarter, only more informed. That being said, I think the person of average intellect needs the break on the education costs just as much (if not more) than the gifted student. I can’t argue with the actuary data. I am dealing with a claim where a guy rear ended me. he is denying liability (I know this as police had to be called), he said I cut him up and caused the bump. I called my insurance to place the claim, they said that I need to get my car repaired and I have 350 excess on my policy. they said that if the man denies liability, I will need to pay my 350 excess until it is decided who is at fault.(He will deny it) I asked if it was possible for me to register my claim but not have the repairs done until its finalized about who is at fault so we know once and for all, who needs to pay the excess. I’d like to insure a 2011 Corolla with full coverage. Background below. I received a DUI 5 years ago in CA at the age of 19. Since then I’ve never had a ticket or at-fault accident. I was hit by another vehicle in 2012 and this was written off as not at fault by my previous insurance company. Currently I have GEICO. Starting in late 2012 I insured a 1990 honda accord for $68/mo with GEICO. Since then it’s down to $42 a month. According to my policy number I’m rated as a driver with no surcharges and I’m in GEICO’s safe driver discount since I’ve had no at faults or tickets for 5 years. I’m looking to purchase a newer car (2011 corolla) and the quote I got was $228 a month. Other major insurers were much more expensive. I was quoted $388 by one major insurer. I’ve talked to many of my friends who pay about $120 a month for cars that would be higher risk (G37, Camarro, etc). My credit score is considered excellent and I live in a low crime neighborhood and I turned 25 two months ago. I will be getting w car when I am 16 and excuse my lack of knowledge about the technical side of cars, but my plan is to but a 05 plate Astra for 1000 or less which leave me with 1500 to get insurance. I’m 24, and I’ve been reading a lot of posts online about people who have many health ailments and do not have insurance to get treated or go to the ER then have a massive bill afterwards. I don’t understand why these individuals are not hunting around for the cheapest medical insurance they can find prior. There are individual plans out there, directly through the insurance companies, also family plans. You can pick and choose your premiums/deductibles/co-pays, hunt around for what suits your needs best. The single plans especially, can be and most of the time are, affordable. I don’t understand why people do not apply for basic health insurance that would cover them in an emergency, or for general routine health-care. Premiums can be as low as 60-100 a month for a single person. Please can someone explain to me why these people are not taking advantage of what is out there? I asked a similar question yesterday but realized I was a bit vague. So, here’s my situation. I am a recent college grad working a job that does not offer me health insurance, and I receive excellent coverage under my parent’s plan. I recently went to a job interview for a position that offers insurance, but I would have to pay a pretty large chunk of change for it monthly ($500+, which is a lot if you’re working an entry-level position), and the coverage isn’t nearly as good as my current plan. (For example, I currently pay $3 for a three month supply of my prescription. The new plan would charge me $30-90 for the same amount pills). I saw a clause in the Affordable Health Care Act that said I would only be able to do this after January 1st, 2014….I really wish this went into effect in 2013 instead! So, my questions are: Can I opt out of this insurance and remain on their plan? If I were to take this job and the insurance plan, would I be able to re-enroll under their plan if I stopped working at this place and worked at a place that didn’t offer insurance? I have health insurance through my employer. My employer is refusing to show a health insurance deduction on my paystub and instead manually does a deduction from my gross wages. My pay stub does not accurately show how many hours I worked and how much I really earned in a pay period as well as it does not show that I have an insurance premium that I am responsible for. Is my employer allowed to adjust my hours on my paycheck b/c he refuses to show an insurance deduction on my paycheck?

Okay so I got into some accidents messing around along with some tickets a few years ago and about 2 in a half years ago a DUI. Today I was in car wreck. I was in a parking lot going straight and the other driver turned left in to my car. She has dented the whole left side of my car. I work 2 part time jobs and neither offer health insurance, so in 2014 I will have to buy some. One comparable to the one I had when I worked a full time job would cost $600 a month but would cover prescriptions with a $20 copay for generics with a $1500 deductible and a $4500 out of pocket maximum. That is out of what I can afford. The one I can afford is only $219 a month but has a $7500 deductible which would have to be met for any benefits and there is a $12,500 out of pocket maximum. If I got very sick I would be wiped out with that one, so it seems that I am in a Catch 22. I don’t make that much money ($8 and $10 for the 2 jobs where I work 24 and 18 hours a week respectively.) Now I just pay the doctor out of pocket and I paid $375 this year for office visits and $150 for medicine. That was affordable and now I am forced to pay a premium in addition to the same amounts I paid for the same service. This thing is making me nervous. Affordable to me is no insurance. Give me a cyanide pill if I get a terminal diagnosis because being in the hospital and wiped out financially is not a good quality of life."

Hey guys I’ve been saving up for a while and have come to a conclusion of what i want for my first car 2006 Porsche cayman s iam16 at the moment and am making just a smudge under $900 a month and from my calculations i should have enough money by the time I am 20-21 so i was wondering how much my insurance would cost. I have my g1 and am getting my g2 in November and will be a occasional driver and would be driving my brothers car an Acura rl and would be getting a cayman as soon as i have enough money. My father has a permanent/whole life insurance. When he had a stroke and got totally disable the 1st several years he didn’t have to pay any monthly premium but in the past few years we been paying for the premium are told that he need to start paying a monthly premium because the savings on his life insurance ran out and every year they send a statement to pay a portion of the premium for 1 year to continue the coverage that besides paying the regular monthly premium which makes his total monthly premium way much higher than what he original pays when he 1st got his insurance. My question is I thought that when a policy holder get totally disable and can’t work and had no income that it doesnt matter if its term or permanent life insurance that the monthly premium is waived for life for that disabled policy holder?
